stuff I made

Jeff's Christmas present, modeled by Brad. It was sooooo easy! I don't remember where I found the directions, though. tshirt scarf for me.... directions are here.  No sewing was involved, just good scissors, a few tshirts, stretching, looping, and tying.

Don't Bite My Head Off...

Image
I found this great idea on Pinterest, a simple nativity that needed only a few items. I immediately made a list of what I had to buy. Then, after two or three weeks of carrying the list around, I gathered the supplies. The heads were the most difficult thing to find. The package said that these can be either doll heads or cabinet knobs. Gotta love versatility. The craft paint colors weren't quite the same as the sticker on the bottles. Oh well. I did a little bit of painting. And then..... Jazzy did a little bit of chewing. Only the heads. Oops. Maybe a lot of chewing. I let her out this morning (she usually hangs out in the kitchen while I run in the basement.) I heard a few thunks while I was on the treadmill but thought it was her nylon bone. Nope. It was Mary and Joseph. Fortunately, I usually buy extra. So tonight I painted some new heads and finished up these little nativities. Then I put them way out of the dog's reach.

wreaths

I (sort of) fixed up my book wreath. Remember, the center wasn't exactly a circle?! I took a bowl (thanks to Katy's great suggestion)... And ended up with this... Still not perfect, but definitely better. I made another wreath today. All it takes is a wire hanger and ornaments.   If I make another, I'll probably use smaller ornaments and make sure the hanger is dark, not a weird beige color. Other than that, I love it! Now I just need a place to hang it...

reuse + craftiness

Image
I've wanted to do this project for a long time. But, I wasn't sure if it was an okay thing to do. I mean, cut up a book and glue it into a wreath?! It was one of the first things I "pinned," and I finally decided to just go for it. I had an old piano book that I never play out of (I tore out the few songs I wanted to keep). And I cut and rolled and glued. Here's the result... It didn't turn out exactly as I hoped (I have a little problem with some OCD/perfectionistic tendencies, so.... I just wish the middle would be more round - can't quite figure out how to get it that way), but I really like it. I'm glad I reused that old music book and cheap frame. (It's even worth the hot glue gun blister.)
