Farmer Lincoln

Our little farmer! Why, yes, we most certainly did bribe our child with chocolate to get him to put on the tractor that I painstakingly crafted threw together in an evening. He was not a fan. I can't say that I blame him - the straps didn't turn out well... turns out I didn't have twine like I thought I did. So, he "wore" the tractor just long enough for a few pictures. It definitely didn't go trick-or-treating with us. He was all about being a farmer! He has been spending lots of time playing with his "tombine" and still loves to talk about the farm. Lincoln also has started talking about "Farmer Don" (John), his Papa, and his wheat. It's priceless. As usual, he was all about riding around in his "real" John Deere! Once he figured out that the bucket was for a "treat" he was all about it. We made four stops - fire house, a friend's house for hot dogs, a friend's house to ...

Take me out to the ball game!

Long, long ago, I made a promise to Brad.  A promise I thought I might never have to make good on. But Brad knew better. He believed. Every year, he would tell me, "This is the year. This is it." And this year... was it. So we went to Game 1 of the World Series, in Kauffman Stadium, to watch the Royals play. It wasn't a great game (for the Royals, anyway), but it was an incredible experience. I'm so glad we went! Even though the seven-game series didn't end like we wanted, it's still good to be Royal!

Lincoln had lots of fun playing at the farm and at the barn last weekend! Friday was rainy and chilly, but that didn't stop Lincoln from dragging his aunts outside to play with the dogs and turn on the water.

Piece of cake... or not!

I suppose it wouldn't be a typical wedding without some kind of snafu... But the bride and groom didn't know about it until the day after, so I suppose we handled it well. A small bakery in our hometown made their cupcakes and cake to cut. When mom, Hannah, and Jason went to pick up the cake on Saturday morning, it looked like this... The design was just like the picture, but the pink was NOT! With navy, red, orange, and yellow for wedding colors, pink was just not an option. So Hannah and I got to work right away... We scraped off massive amounts of pink frosting and had our aunt and uncle pick up some buttercream from Dillon's, since we knew there was no way we'd have time to make frosting and fix the cake. We then left to set up and decorate at the barn, sprinting back around lunch time to eat, fix the cake, and change. We slathered on the pale yellow buttercream to cover up all the pink and used a knife to make a design similar to ...
