Loved

I know I just posted three times yesterday, but I'm so excited to share what I made this morning! (Maybe my sort-of resolution to post more often is already coming true!)

I started playing with Photoshop Elements yesterday evening when we got the new computer all set up. This is one of the things that I've put together so far - the only one that's actually finished.

We chose a Bible verse and a quote for Baby K, and I'm working on those as well to print and frame for the nursery. They're a little more complicated than this alphabet one. I made the ABC's actually for Baby's name (you know, like M is for Megan), but I'm not going to share that one until he's here. :) Sorry. I totally stole the name idea from Pinterest. I really like this version, too, and am brainstorming what others I could make.

Oooh, I didn't know you could do graphic design type stuff with Elements! I may need to do some similar playing!

SOL: Caught

Image
Every once in a while, I try to take a purposeful break from blogging, for a day or a week or an indeterminate amount of time. Sometimes it's to focus on other things. Sometimes it's simply to get work done. But mostly, it's because I get caught. I catch myself checking my blog "stats" to see how many people are reading. I catch myself wishing I had more followers... after all, "they" have 20, and I only have 11. I catch myself coveting more comments from readers. So when I catch myself, I try to make myself take a break. (I don't always listen.) Because I don't blog for the attention (although I have to admit it's been a nice side effect). I don't blog so that others read me. I blog... well... okay. I never thought much about why I blog. I suppose it started as one of those "if they can, I can." I did it just to do it. But it's more than that now. (I just realized this yesterday.) I blog to be a writer. I have alwa...

Give away!

Image
Well, faithful blog readers, I've decided it's time. Time for a give away. I've mentioned a few times before that I am getting carried away with this headband stuff. You'd think I was stocking an etsy store or something. (Which I'm not. I'd have to think of a name that doesn't suck. I'm not creative like that. And I'd have to ship things in a timely manner... my sister's birthday present (from August 31st) is still on my piano. I gave my other sister her present last Tuesday when I saw her in person. My name is Megan, and I have  a problem with getting to the post office.) So I need to give some away. To win a headband of your choice (I will post a picture with all the options when I announce the winner), comment on this post by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21... tell me how you found my blog or ask me a question or tell me a random fact. For an additional entry, "follow" my blog publicly by clicking the "join thi...

Lincoln Jesse Kohlman: Birth Story

Image
I am starting to write this post on Monday morning. It might take a while. While my entire pregnancy was blissfully uneventful, a fact for which I am eternally grateful, Lincoln's birth was anything but. This is going to be a difficult story to record (I'm already tearing up with this first paragraph), but I think it will start to help me heal emotionally. Warning: this post is not censored. It includes pretty much everything I can remember, just so you know in advance.  At 37 weeks, Dr. Fullerton sent me in for a measurement ultrasound. I had been measuring small since about 30 weeks, so we just wanted to check on the due date. Surprisingly, Baby K was measuring in the 89th percentile. This was a concern because, let's face it, my body is not exactly built for child-bearing. These hips are narrow. We, after a long conversation with the doctor, decided on the 13th that our induction would start the evening of the 21st. We told our parents and siblings and that was abo...
