"featured"?

The Kansas Creative Quarterly is a webzine first published in Summer 2011. I accidentally ran across it a couple of months ago. The editor, Leanne, was calling for submissions. On a whim, I e-mailed her a few of my photographs. You can check them out here ! (You have to scroll down the page a bit to get to me.) While you're on the site, browse the other creative submissions. It's an awesome project!

the views

Image
This was the view last night on the way home from house hunting in Cottonwood Falls (for Barb & Jeff, not us!)...   In contrast, this was my view for most of the afternoon today...   a bunch of homework (with a bunch left to go over the break), a little March Madness in the background, and some wistful glances at a project started but not yet finished...  (hopefully during the KU game tonight - Rock Chalk!) I have to admit I prefer last night's view to this afternoon's. Soon enough, I won't have to worry about the homework view!

Kansas Adventures

Warning: this is a post with a LOT of pictures.  When we were little, my mom (and sometimes my grandma, dad, and/or uncle) used to take us on Kansas Day Trips. We went so many places - to the Seelye Mansion, Dalton Gang Museum, the underground city in Ellinwood, Monument Rocks, to name a few. (And we got lost so many times. This was before mapquest. Or GPS.) Some of my pictures are looking a little pixel-ated when I upload them. Weird. Brad and I have been wanting to go on Kansas trips for a while now, especially since we don't get many big vacations while we're both in school. So yesterday we loaded up the dog (crazy us!) took off. It wasn't really a tourist thing; we just stopped at a few random places. It was fun, though. Our first stop was Teter Hill / Teter Rock / Teterville . My dad used to pasture cattle out on Teter Hill, and I remember a couple picnics on the spot. We once caught a horned toad there, which became a class pet. I think in 4th grade. I ...

and the thunder rolls...

We watched the clouds roll in last night at the lake. (Brad was fishing. I was photog-ing) They brought a brief cold front with them - and a tiny bit of rain. It was amazing.

pretty

This is what I did on my most recent snow day (yesterday)... Not just one - no! Two camera strap covers. I'm getting pretty bummed about all the snow, so I needed to make something bright and cheery. I used the tutorial here .
