Flowers at the farm...

Yes, it is summertime. Hooray! That's such a wonderful word in the house of two teachers - and very welcome at the end of last week.

My "To-do" list seems miles long, but I'm already checking things off: touch up paint, tie quilt, price flooring, get lots of summer snow (a.k.a. shaved ice)... I do love a good list.

The only problem is that I cannot figure out where my camera memory card is. I uploaded pictures this morning, put the card back into my camera, deleted all images, and now??? And so finding that goes on my list.

    Are either of you working this summer? We found it was not always good for our marriage to be home together ALL summer. Of course you are still young and in love!

    Well Megs, if you get tired of your list you and Bradley can come hang out with me here in Wichita, it only takes 25 minutes to get here and I don't have anyone to hang out with in the evenings.

Every once in a while, I try to take a purposeful break from blogging, for a day or a week or an indeterminate amount of time. Sometimes it's to focus on other things. Lincoln Jesse Kohlman: Birth Story

I am starting to write this post on Monday morning. It might take a while. While my entire pregnancy was blissfully uneventful, a fact for which I am eternally grateful, Lincoln's birth was anything but. This is going to be a difficult story to record (I'm already tearing up with this first paragraph), but I think it will start to help me heal emotionally. Warning: this post is not censored. It includes pretty much everything I can remember, just so you know in advance.  At 37 weeks, Dr. Fullerton sent me in for a measurement ultrasound. I had been measuring small since about 30 weeks, so we just wanted to check on the due date. Surprisingly, Baby K was measuring in the 89th percentile. This was a concern because, let's face it, my body is not exactly built for child-bearing. These hips are narrow.
