Uncle Game

We spent a lot of time this winter at Chase County High School basketball games, watching Justin play! We've had a lot of fun at the games.

Yard Work!

With a new fixer-upper of a house comes plenty of work, both inside and out!

No worries, though. Lincoln loves to help, especially outside!

Park Time!

We've had some amazing warm and sunny weather this month, which made one Saturday perfect to check out a new park with friends!

World Read Aloud Day

February 16 was World Read Aloud Day.

In our school, the eighth graders are "buddies" to the fifth graders to help them adjust to the middle school. This year, for WRAD, I took all our 7th graders over to the elementary school to read to the 4th graders - the kids who will be their buddies next year. They all loved it!

Lincoln says...

"I can't tell you any more of my great ideas because I have turned them into secrets!"

"Jesus is adorable!"

"Come on, Jesus! Let's go surf!" (As he pulls the baby Jesus from his nativity around on a paper airplane.)

(This is his new smile for pictures. Ugh...)

"I want to go to Bethlehem and see the manger."
Why?
"Becaise the manger is still there."
How do you know?
"Mangers stay where there is hay."

"Papa doesn't rake up hay very often, and he didn't make a manger. He has to make a manger if the baby is going to be born at the farm."

"The moon is still out! I think the moon is too excited for your birthday, mama!"

"Unicorse." (unicorn)

"Every night I have to dream about my great-grandpas because they died already."

"Mommy, Franklin loved his Grandpa Dale. He is sad because he misses his grandpa. It's okay, Franklin. I'm here." (kiss and a big hug to Franklin)

34 weeks

I've been meaning to post for a couple of weeks now and just haven't done it.

At my last appointment, I had a blood draw and my platelets have stayed level, so that's a good thing! I also talked to Dr. Fullerton about the different possibilities for a birth plan (what needs to happen for a VBAC to be possible, what other scenarios there are) and feel good about those options and that we are on the same page.

This pregnancy I've been craving citrus, especially oranges. Not orange juice, just fresh oranges and grapefruit and pineapple (does that count as citrus?). I feel more sore and tired than I had been, and the nausea has come back a little bit, but 6 weeks seems like no time at all. I'm about halfway (maybe a little more) done with long-term sub plans, but those have been getting harder and harder to work on. It's difficult to find the energy to do all my normal work plus plan months in advance! I have also been much more emotional this third trimester, which was definitely new to me.

Baby K is super active, and his movement are really strong. I don't remember feeling this much (or as forceful) movement with Lincoln, but he was also in a different position than this little one is.

Valentine's 2017

Lincoln was excited to give his friends sunglasses for Valentine's Day this year.

He sat at the table and diligently wrote his name, all by himself, on 11 cards for each kid in his preschool class. He was pretty proud!

Arabic

We added this sign to our yard earlier in the week. Today, on the way home from school Lincoln was telling me about his friend Tango (his stuffed orangutan).

"He doesn't speak English or Spanish, mommy. He speaks that one language. What's that one that's in orange on our sign?"
"Arabic."
"Yeah, mommy. Arabic. Tango speaks Arabic."

(We later established that it's actually "orangutan Arabic," different but still kinda beautiful.)

Freezer Meals!

Becca, Jill, and I have a tradition of exchanging freezer meals every so often. This time we decided to christen Becca's new kitchen with a huge day of making the meals all together.

We each ended up with about 16 meals, including pepper steak, chili Colorado burritos, chicken enchiladas, chicken bacon ranch mac n cheese, spicy beef lettuce wraps, BBQ meatballs, cheesy potatoes, and breakfast burritos.

It was a long, exhausting day, but it has already been well worth it!
