The zoo, zoo, zoo!

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. How about you, you, you? You can come too, too, too. We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo!

Today we went to the Emporia Zoo. The price (free) was right for Lincoln's first zoo trip, and it was actually a really nice place. I'd never been there, but Brad's grandpa used to bring him (along with his sister and cousins) when he was little.

Mr. Stubbornly Independent wanted to walk all over the zoo on his own! He ended up with quite the scraped knee and a bump on the head because of it, but he was determined!

I think the emus were Lincoln's favorite!

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday we went to the farm after church. We mostly ate and spent time with my parents, Grandpa Melvin, and Daniel and Megan. We snuck in a few family pictures, too... with the dogs wandering around, it's amazing we got Lincoln to look at the camera at all. Uncle Daniel may have had to pick up a dog while he was taking a picture or two...

April Update

Lincoln just keeps growing up! I'm not going to do monthly "birthday" posts any more, but I will definitely still post periodic updates, cute pictures, and big milestones, as well as funny everyday moments.

He can show you his belly button and hair. He also claps his hands and stomps his feet to "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "Happy" by Pharrell. Lincoln usually loves to dance and will start bouncing to music when it comes on. He babbles all the time and quite loudly. He has a few more distinguishable words, like "this" and "that."

We brought home his little rocking chair after his birthday party, and he loves to sit down in it - then stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down. He has learned how to back up to the chair and sit down instead of trying to climb in, which means we can sit and watch him do it instead of trying to make sure he doesn't end up with a fat lip or broken tooth.

Lincoln loves to be outside - and moving, moving, moving! He is happiest when the wind is blowing through his hair. He will bring us his shoes when he wants to go out - which happens to be just about every time he sees a shoe or two. On Easter Sunday, I gave him his shoes and told him to find Uncle Daniel to take him out. He grabbed them and walked straight to my brother; he was ready to get outside!

Lincoln is getting to be more and more independent. With that comes a mind of his own, and he lets it be known when things are not going according to his plans. He is still a happy happy boy most of the time, but there are definitely moments when we get an earful of irritation.

We also got to go to Lincoln's first MCC Sale. He loved the verenike, sausage, New Year's cookies, whoopie pie, and cherry moos. I think it might be his new favorite thing, since it's mostly about the food for us.

He gained his first two molars just recently. I never would have known they were in, but one day I was tickling him and noticed a little extra white in his gums. (He still doesn't have the fourth tooth on the bottom yet, so I was expecting that first.) Crazy!

We also took away his pacifier last week. We were braced for a long fight, but it didn't happen. The first night he cried and we rocked him for about 45 minutes, but the next day he was fine at nap times and bedtime! I was ready for hours and hours of tears - thankfully we didn't have to deal with that!

Easter at Grammy's

Yesterday we went to Grammy and Grampy Kohlman's for a little family "Easter" since we weren't going to make it today.

Lincoln had fun hunting eggs... for about the first five. Then he was done.

He also had a great time pushing Uncle Justin off the ball and chasing the kitties.
