We had a three-day weekend, so we went on a little trip to Columbia to visit Sarah and Jamie. We had to take them a couple of dressers that we got, so Grandpa Melvin got to come along, too.

It was fun to have a chance to meet some of Sarah & Jamie's friends, including the Columbia Mennonite Fellowship Group that they helped found. We wore our Mennonite girl shirts to dinner.

Grandpa fixed up all three of their outside doors with new weather stripping. He worked and worked and worked.

We spent some time in a park close to their house.

Brad went fishing at the park. As soon as he got out his pole, these two little boys were at his side, wanting to fish.

Lincoln wasn't feeling well the whole weekend (stuffy nose and a little bit of a cough), but he definitely got lots of love. (He actually ended up coming home early from daycare on Monday with a fever of 103, but he's all better now.)

Despite his previous experience with a cat when he screamed the second he saw it, Wyatt was a big hit.

Seven months

Yikes! This month completely flew by! I honestly don't have any idea where the last 30 or so days went.

You are very good at sitting now and are content to sit by yourself and play for long stretches. You'll stretch to reach for toys that aren't right next to you. Sometimes you'll dive into our laps if we're sitting near you, but you're not going any father than that or compromising your sitting position for toys. These stacking rings are your favorite toy right now.

You're a very vocal little boy. You often babble and squawk, especially when someone is talking or reading to you. Just the other day I noticed the "p" sound in your vocabulary.

You don't have to go back to the doctor until 9 months, so I don't have official length and weight.

You finally rolled from your back to your stomach last week, but you don't do it much. Even though you're not creeping or crawling yet, you are a wiggler, especially when you're on your back or tummy! The picture with the "7 months" on it is the best one I could get of you and Abe because you were so squirmy.

You are always happy to see us. When I pick you up from Penny's, you start searching for me as soon as you  hear my voice. I get a big smile when you finally see me, then you reach out your little arms. It's the best moment of my day! When daddy gets home from work, you wiggle, wave your arms, and laugh out loud. It's the best moment of his day! Sometimes I think you're not sure who to be with and you'll reach for one of us when the other is holding you, then reach to go right back.

You had to have your third hearing screening this month because of the antibiotics you were on in the NICU. You passed with flying colors, obviously, but it was interesting because the audiologist explained how they test a baby's hearing. They use a bud that sends vibrations into your ear, then your inner ear vibrates back. The ear bud catches the return vibrations to see whether everything is working properly. It was cool to see the graphs line up on the screen.

Of course, you still adore Jazzy. On this particular evening, she lay down next to you, and you put your arm around her. Then she got excited, rolled over, and knocked you down.

We love you, Lincoln, and can't wait to see what you learn this month!

Members of the Flock

For one of their regular fundraisers, our church youth group "flocks" people with pink flamingos. They have two or three flocks that they take around to various homes for a two week span. You can purchase insurance to avoid being flocked, pay to send the flock to someone's house, pay to forward the flock on (after you've been flocked), and pay to find out who flocked you.

A few nights ago, we were relaxing on the couch when the doorbell rang. When we opened the door, we discovered that the flock had made a special trip to Augusta! Of course we had to spend some time snapping a few pictures before sending the flock on to friends.

First Fall Fest

Today was Lincoln's first Fall Fest experience.

It was a little chilly, so he was all bundled up in his stroller.

Uncle Daniel is silly! He came up to us once during the day and said, "Let's go take some pictures!" He took Lincoln into the photo booth that was there.

Mod time is always good time.

We got to take our first family picture on campus. The entrance area where we're standing was just finished and dedicated that morning. It's beautiful.

Somebody was worn out at the end of the day. I think we can say Fall Fest was a hit!
